Depart Prague and travel east to the historical silver mining town of Kutná Hora, once the second most important town in the Kingdom of Bohemia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995.
Travel back in time to the 13th century. You will learn how two of the region's most powerful institutions coexisted and flourished side by side for centuries: the wealthy Cistercian monastery in Sedlec and the nearby Italian Court (Vlašský dvůr), which King Wenceslaus II transformed into the central royal mint and which became a favorite temporary residence of several Czech kings.
Visit the impressive Saint Barbara's Church to marvel at the Gothic details of this magnificent cathedral-style building. See a unique stone fountain from the 15th century, and go to the amazing Sedlec Ossuary, fascinatingly decorated with the skeletal remains of 40,000 to 70,000 people.
