This is a private tour. The mountainous, provincial road climbs the eastern slopes of Psiloritis and offers incredible views of Heraklion and the Cretan Sea. Soon we reach Krousonas and through a dirt road, which runs parallel to the homonymous gorge, to the plateau. The place is beautiful with thousands of pear and apple trees scattered all over. The dirt road will lead us tothe plateau of Nida, where we will visit Idaion Andron, the cave where Zeus was raised. From there, we will head to Anogia for a stop in a traditional kafenion. After we will go to Axos village and have free time in woodcraft museum. Our trip continues to Livadia and Psiloritis Chalet Retreat where we will have our cooking lesson – preparing traditional cheese and local specialties. The return to Heraklion will be through the provincial road Heraklion – Anogia.

    Our first stop is the popular monastery of Ag.Irini located in Krousonas village. We’ll pass through the charming village of Krousonas and follow an off-road trail parallel to the impressive Krousonas Gorge, eventually reaching the fertile Livadi Plateau, a peaceful landscape dotted with thousands of pear and apple trees.

    In this part, we pass through Zominthos, the ancient Minoic site, to enjoy a fully off-road 4X4 experience.

    Our route continues to the Nida Plateau, home to the Idaion Andron cave, where mythology says Zeus was raised.

    Our stop is Ideon Cave, which is famous for being the place where Zeus, the Father of the Gods, was born and grew up. The Ideon Cave is one of the greatest cave sanctuaries in Crete, as important as the major Greek temples.
