    Upon arrival, our team will receive and transfer you to the magnificent Sarova Stanley Hotel, located just 17km away from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the heart of Nairobi City, where you will spend the afternoon relaxing as you prepare for the next day’s expedition.

  • Day 2

    Nairobi / Shaba National Reserve

    Heading north after an early breakfast, embark on a journey to the Shaba National Reserve via Thika, northward through some breath taking scenery dotted with lush mountain streams and fields of tea and coffee. After Nanyuki town, continue north, eventually reaching a dusty outpost known as Isiolo, the last major stop on the journey into the remote northern frontier district. From here it’s a fairly short hop to Shaba, arriving at the lodge in time for lunch before departing for an afternoon game drive. Time permitting, in the evening, take a lifetime ride down a rugged, exciting road on the back of a desert camel under the guidance of an experienced ranger as you view the scenic Shaba landscape, before returning to the lodge as the sunsets.

    Shaba National Reserve

    Early morning game drive followed by breakfast. Shaba is home to abundant wildlife. From lions and the elusive leopard to large herds of elephants, the park is also known for special species particular to the area, such as the grevy's zebra, gerenuk (deer), beisa (oryx) and the reticulated giraffe. For the remainder of the morning, one is able to relax by the pool or terrace, overlooking the river. After lunch, you can choose to do another game drive or embark on an adventure into the raw unchartered terrains of the Reserve and the surrounding community lands for guided climbing experiences, where the landscapes provide quite a spectacle with each path having a story, before returning to the lodge as the sun sets.

    Shaba National Reserve / Lake Nakuru National Park

    Lake Nakuru National Park

    Leaving Shaba behind, travel south through Isiolo, crossing the northernmost foothills of Mount Kenya, until you get to the town of Nanyuki. Head north-west towards Nyahururu, before turning in a southerly direction, your next destination being the spectacular Lake Nakuru National Park. The park is known for its birdlife – particularly the elegant pink flamingoes and it is also home to Black and White rhinos as well as the endangered Rothschild giraffe, all of which you will view once in the park, enroute to the lodge. Following lunch and a siesta, there is an afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge as the sun sets.

    Lake Nakuru / Masai Mara National Reserve

    Maasai Mara National Reserve

    After an early morning breakfast, bid farewell to the flamingo fringed Lake Nakuru and head for Njoro town, the starting point of your ascent up the Mau Escarpment. Then, heading south, travel towards Narok, the gateway to the Maasai Mara and district headquarters of this part of Maasailand. On this voyage, you will travel across the “breadbasket” of Kenya, covered with acres of wheat and barley, before you reach the Mara in time for lunch. Following lunch and a siesta, there is an afternoon game drive returning to the camp as the sun sets.

    Maasai Mara National Reserve

    An early morning game drive not only offers you the opportunity to observe the African sunrise, it is the most rewarding game drive since you will find all animals very active and fresh, looking for food of the day in an open savannah but the cats in the ambush also looking for the food of the day by hunting. On the evening game drive, you will also be able to have a final catch up of the game, especially the reptiles out of their hideouts getting their dinner and sunbathing, while kobs and other animals that graze in groups will be assembling for their resting. Masai Mara is one of the best destinations, not only in Africa but in the world for excellent game viewing. On this safari, you have the chance of seeing thousands of animals such as lions, elephants, cape buffalo, and rhinoceros, as well as giraffes, hippos, hyenas, Nile crocodiles, wildebeest, zebra, gazelles, antelopes, and more.

    Masai Mara National Reserve / Nairobi

    After breakfast, depart the Masai Mara and head across acres of rolling wheat and barley farms to Narok, the district headquarters of this part of Masai land. From here, cross the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley, whilst keeping an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle, before heading up the rift escarpment cruising on a road built by Italian prisoners during World War II, before finally arriving into Kenya’s bustling capital Nairobi, where a Day-Use Room is provided for our guests, for resting, before heading to the airport to catch the departure flight.
