The course usually runs every weekend between 09.00hrs and 17.00hrs with a combination of both shore-based and practical. For the practical session, we will meet by The Black Pearl Restaurant, ix-Xatt Ta' Xbiex.

What to expect

You can learn powerboat handling from scratch, get trained to become competent in driving a powerboat and obtain the world-recognized RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling qualification by the end of the course.

At the same time, you will have a fantastic holiday by viewing and exploring the most beautiful places in Malta from a boat, including some great marinas and harbors along the way.

This two-day entry-level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat. It is the perfect boat training course for a beginner or for sharpening existing boat handling skills, as well as one of the most popular aquatic activities in Malta.

The student will learn marina skills, close-quarter handling, as well as going onto the open sea. The course includes learning about safety equipment, high-speed manoeuvers, VHF, and much more. This course is advantageous to qualify as tender drivers on superyachts, dive boat drivers, and rib drivers.

The temperatures in Malta are normally very warm during the day but it can be cold in the evenings and windy days at sea. It's a good idea to bring a jacket just in case.
