When you book this tour, you are getting the support and guidance of a professional historian, borned and raised in Bogotá, and with experience as a certified trilingual tour guide (Spanish, English and Portuguese) since 2016. All the details included were specifically designed to provide you with a complete, comfortable and comprehensive experience during your first discovery of the city.
On top of that, you will receive the same high-quality service that I provide for the most exclusive tour companies in the country, that I also normally work with, but for a very convenient fraction of the price.
The tour is also totally flexible and can be modified to better suit your specific needs and interests, so don't hesitate about sharing them from the very beginning.
I'll pick you up directly at your hotel, or the location that you request
After picking you up in the morning, we'll have a 30 minutes ride to our favorite local food market called 'Paloquemao', where we will try some delicious fruits and local recipes, and we'll also learn about the biodiversity and amazing people of the country. The tour inside the market lasts for 1 hour.
15 minutes away from Paloquemao by car, and now into Bogota's downtown, we go up to the Monserrate hill using the traditional Funicular or the cable car (availability for each system depends on daily schedules of the Monserrate's administration). From the top, we have the best panoramic views of Bogotá, and also a lot of history that can be traced back to precolonial times. We spend 1 hour and 45 minutes going up the mountain, enjoying it and then heading back to the city.
After returning from Monserrate, we have a short 10 minutes ride to the Gold Museum (closed on Mondays), where we will explore the most famous museum in the country. Thousands of golden pieces will help us to understand better the history of the indigenous communities of Colombia. We spend 1 hour doing the tour inside of the museum.
Right after the Gold Museum, we will have 1 hour to rest a bit and have a traditional delicious Colombian lunch. The downtown area is filled with amazing restaurants to choose from, and I'll take you to the one that best suits your specific needs. After that, we will walk for 1 hour around the Candelaria neighborhood, the oldest historical section of Bogotá.
After walking around the Candelaria neighborhood, we stop at the very heart of the city, the Bolivar's Square, surrounded by the most important institutional buildings of the country, where we will have 20 minutes to take some nice pictures before walking to the final stop of our tour.
Our final spot and as a nice closure to our tour, includes a visit to the second most famous museum of the city, the Botero Museum (closed on Tuesdays), a wonderfull art museum which contains a donation given to the country by Fernando Botero (the most notorious Colombian fine artist), including his own pieces and a portion of his personal international art collection. The vist lasts 1 hour, and then we'll take you back to your hotel, in a car ride that normally takes 40 minutes to 1 hour depending on the traffic.
