    Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids

    Saqqara is one of the largest villages in Giza Governorate, located about 40 km south of Cairo in the heart of the Egyptian countryside. It is home to the first pyramid ever built in ancient Egypt—the famous Step Pyramid of King Djoser, designed by the architect Imhotep during the Third Dynasty. Saqqara served as the vast necropolis of the ancient city of Memphis and contains numerous tombs belonging to nobles and high officials from different periods of Egyptian history. These tombs are beautifully decorated with colorful scenes depicting daily life, agriculture, hunting, religious rituals, and various aspects of ancient Egyptian society. During your visit, you will have the opportunity to explore some of these remarkable tombs and learn about the evolution of pyramid construction and burial traditions in ancient Egypt.
