    ancient city of Memphis, founded around 3100 BCE by King Narmer (Menes), who united Upper and Lower Egypt. Though little remains of the original city due to time and Nile floods, the open-air museum here offers a look at some stunning remnants.

    Next, we drive a short distance to Saqqara, one of Egypt’s most significant archaeological sites. Saqqara was used as a royal and elite burial ground for over 3,000 years.
