Amsterdam Red Light District Self-Guided Photography Tour

2 hours 30 minutes (approximately)
Offered in: English and 3 more

The oldest part of Amsterdam is also the most photographed, and this self-guided photography walk takes you through it in reportage style rather than postcard style. From Dam Square you work through the narrow alleys along the Oudezijds Achterburgwal and Oudezijds Voorburgwal, past the Oude Kerk, over the Vredenburgerbrug and out along the Zeedijk, with the route and the shooting tips on your own phone. Facades going back to the medieval city, canal reflections, doorways and the ordinary life of the neighbourhood in between. You set the pace, stop where you like and come back to a spot when the light is better. The walk takes about 2 hours 30 minutes and works with a phone camera as well as a system camera. Photograph people and windows respectfully - the route notes tell you where not to point a lens.
