History comes alive at the ancient temple of Demetra, in Sagri Village, dated 530 BC, and dedicated to the goddess of agriculture. Built on the edge of a fertile Naxian valley, as the first Greek temple constructed entirely of marble (its roof as well), it’s of even greater historical importance. Please note : On Tuesdays the temple is closed.A visit to a traditional pottery workshop will be added instead

Chalki Village, where after a pleasant stroll, visit the hundred-year-old family owned distillery, which still produces Naxos’ well-known Kitron liqueur.

Driving up to Zeus Mount to reach our next destination, the highest mount of the Cyclades. Since it is also enclosed among the vegetation of the verdant Tragea valley, numerous olive trees surround it.

The largest settlement on the island is a beautiful village amphitheatrically built on the foothills of mount Zeus. The sprawled branches of an imposing old plane tree lavishly provide the guests with shadow. The most renowned church of the district is Panagia Filotitissa (the Holy Mary of Filoti). The current building was established in the 18th century and boasts a three-bell tower with exquisite carved details. In front of the church lies the Ecclesiastic and Folklore Museum of Filoti. There, guests have the chance to see how a traditional house used to be and admire some of the relics and icons of the church.

Olive groves stretch out in front of us all along the route. Olive oil has always been an integral part of the island's culture. A stop at a restored olive mill is considered essential. There you can watch how this “liquid gold” was once painstakingly prepared, as well as sample its delectable olive oil products.
