Just 7 miles away from downtown Taipei City, Yangmingshan National Park is the 3rd national park in Taiwan that covers a wide area of volcanic geological features. Yangmingshan has a wide elevation range from 200 to 1,120 meters with beautiful landscapes alongside different trails. The highest summit of the mountain is approximately 1,120 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy a sweeping view of Taipei Basin when you reach the top of the mountain.
There are 3 route options with different level of difficulty:
Challenging: 4 km | Elevation: from 780 m to 1100 m
Moderate: 6 km | Elevation: from 600 m to 850 m
Easy: 3.5 km | Flat and easy

Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area, nestled within Yangmingshan National Park, is a must-visit for nature lovers. This volcanic landscape features steaming fumaroles, vibrant yellow sulfur crystals, and hiking trails that offer a glimpse into the geothermal wonders of the region.

Despite its name translating to "cold water pit", Lengshuikeng is known for its geothermal activity, including hot springs and sulfuric pools. The Lengshuikeng Visitor Center provides information on the area's unique geology and can be a good rest point for exploring the park.

Qingtiangang is a vast and verdant meadow in Yangmingshan National Park. It offers breathtaking panoramic views and a chance to observe the unique ecology of the area. Hike along the well-maintained trails, carpeted with soft grass and dotted with shrubs, and soak in the tranquility of the rolling hills. You might even spot some of the park's resident water buffalo grazing peacefully in the distance.
