St James Parish Church, Jamaica is an eighteenth century church in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It was started in 1774 at a time when the town was increasing in importance as a centre for trade and the number of merchants was growing.

Sam Sharpe Square, situated in the downtown area, is the traditional heart of Montego Bay. The area was originally called Charles Square, but was renamed in honor of the Jamaican anti-slavery campaigner Sam Sharpe. Today, the cobblestoned area remains a bustling thoroughfare. See the bronze monument commemorating Sharpe’s struggle, haggle for a souvenir and explore Montego Bay’s history in the grand Civic Centre. Also visit the St James Parish Church. The ageing church is set in a large graveyard featuring tombstones from over 200 years. The church is set out in a classic Greek cross shape. There are many points of interest in the church, including two monuments by noted 18th century sculptor, John Bacon. One of these is a monument to Rosa Palmer, the former owner of Rose Hall Great House. Souvenir shopping and stops at top tier restaurants like scotchies for delicious jerk chicken/ pork cook directly over the fire.
