The Eggares Olive Press is just a 15-minute drive from Naxos Town, in the quiet village of Eggares. Surrounded by olive trees and countryside, it’s easy to reach and offers a peaceful escape from the busy town.
What to expect
We’ll start with an olive oil tasting, where I’ll show you how to recognize the flavors and aromas of different Naxian oils. How we tell the difference between an extra virgin olive oil and a regular one? We will find out together. It’s relaxed, interactive, and perfect even if you’ve never done a tasting before.
Then we’ll roll up our sleeves and bake some delicious and easy olive bread using my grandmother’s recipe — something I grew up with and still make at home today. You’ll get hands-on, learn the steps, and of course, enjoy the smell of freshly baked bread.
I keep my groups small so the atmosphere feels personal and friendly, more like cooking with a local friend than joining a big tour. By the end, you’ll have tasted Naxos in the most authentic way — through its olive oil, bread, and stories.
