Our package of activities is an authentic experience of day-to-day life of Kenyans. We start by immersing you into the raw form of fresh farm produce trading by visiting the local market where you interact with the sellers and other customers. In the market we buy some ingredients for the meal that we prepare later.
Kenya's transport system is probably one of the most interesting in Africa. This system is made popular by the 'party buses' called Matatus. Matatus are an integral part of Kenyan culture and the dominant mode of public transport in cities like Nairobi. On this tour we get to board a matatu our destination being the house where we cook from. The matatus are known for colorful and elaborate decorations, blaring music, playstation consoles, a DJ on-board, energetic conductors and their aggressive driving.
At the house, we cook with you the popular foods in Kenyan homes. We later eat together with the present members of the family. We pack some food for you to eat later.

What to expect

We first start at the local market where we buy fresh ingredients. We show you how to choose the best of the ingredients. They include; potatoes, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, Pumpkin leaves, maize, beans, pineapple etc
From the market, we walk with our traditional shopping basket "Kiondo" to the bus stop where we board a 'matatu' which is the most popular mode of transport among Kenyans.
We pass through Junction mall to get to the house. Incase we are missing an ingredient, we go into the stores.
At the house, we start by washing our hands, removing all jewellery that would get in the way of cooking then we sit down for a cup of tea as we discuss the plan. Visitors are always greeted with a cup of tea in Kenya. After the meal plan is discussed and questions answered we dress you up by wrapping your head and waist the traditional way. The men in the group participate in cutting the meat just like in a Kenyan household but they can also be involved in the whole process of cooking.
After our meals are ready, we sit with the family to eat. Later we pack some food for you for later and drop you to your hotel.
