Discover the charm of Portugal’s two oldest cities on this full-day tour of Guimarães and Braga from Porto. In the Roman city of Braga, home to the oldest archdiocese in Portugal, we will start our visit with the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus. Afterwards, we will appreciate the imposing cathedral, which dates back to the 11th century and all the surrounding area like the St. Bárbara garden or Porta nova. After a relaxing lunch break that will certainly allow you to enjoy the pleasures of the cuisine of the north of Portugal, it will be time to continue towards Guimarães. Visit the medieval Castle and church of saint Michael. Walk through the ancient streets and city squares of the the medieval village of Guimarães, the birthplace of the nation and clasified as UNESCO World Heritage site.

These small but attractive public gardens are located adjacent to the eastern wing of the 14th century Archbishop's Palace. The garden takes advantage of the historic backdrop and also incorporates the medieval arches that remain of an arcade from the palace. Laid out in the 1950s the garden was designed by Jose Cardoso da Silva in the Romantic style, in keeping with its surroundings.
