Kaiping and Taishan or Hoisaan are well-known towns in modern Chinese history, where many Chinese left and went abroad. This 2-day tour will let you explore the old Diaolou houses and Taishan Meijia Courtyard to learn the history and the UNESCO cultural sites with a local guide.
We pick up from your centrally located Guangzhou hotel lobby
At 8am, you will be met at your centrally located Guangzhou hotel lobby, then take 2.5-hour car ride to Kaiping that is renown for the old houses.
Firstly you will visit the Zili Village that is one of the cultural heritages for Kaiping Diaolou which was inscribed on the list of World Heritage by UNESCO in 2007. There are about 15 different old houses in the village to display the combination of western and Chinese architecture, which were mainly built nearly 100 years ago to against the bandits. You can visit some of the houses, the best one is Mingshi Building that is the symbol of the village already.

There are three old Diaolou houses in Jinjiangli Village, including Ruishi Building, Shengfeng Building and Jingjiang Building, which combined different architectural styles, are also are part of World Heritage for Kaiping Diaolou Villages.
Maxianglong Village is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in China for its pretty moutain, river, plants, and Diaolou. The village is facing the Tan River, and back to the Baizu Mount, the 13 Diaolou houses spread out in the 5 villages. The Tianlu Building is the best one, and was built in 1925.
Nanlou or South Building, is a single tower built in 1912. You will visit it before head to Meijia Courtyard in Taishan.
Then you will take one-hour ride to Meijia Courtyard in Taishan. There are 108 old buildings in this area that were built about 100 years ago by overseas Chinese for their family, and still well-preserved for travelers to wander around the shops, markets and restaurants etc. Afterwards you will be transferred back to your Guangzhou hotel where the tour concludes.
