Welcome to the ancient land of the Pharaohs! Upon your arrival at Cairo airport, you will be greeted by a representative from and escorted to your hotel. Your adventure will kick off with a welcome meeting where your itinerary will be explained. The remainder of the day is yours to spend at your leisure. If your flight arrives early, consider taking in a mesmerizing sound and light show at the pyramids (optional) or enjoying a Nile dinner cruise and show in downtown Cairo (optional).
This morning, your private guide and driver will pick you up for a full-day tour of the Pyramids at Giza and Saqqara. You'll start by visiting the step pyramid of Saqqara, the oldest pyramid in Egypt, which was built by King Zoser in 4800 B.C. As it was the first capital of ancient Egypt, you'll explore the site in chronological order before moving on to the famous pyramids at Giza.
After a morning of exploration, you can take a break for lunch before continuing your journey to the Giza Plateau. Here, you'll visit the world-famous pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, Mycrenos, and Sphinx. These impressive structures have stood tall for over 4,500 years. Take in the beauty of the Sphinx, which is one of the largest monolith statues in the history of mankind, and capture some remarkable pictures. Your local Egyptology guide will be a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm about Egyptian history and the country in general. After a day of adventure, you'll head back to your hotel in Cairo for an overnight stay.
In the morning, after breakfast, it will be time to check out of your Cairo hotel and head to the airport for your domestic flight to Luxor (please book this yourself). Upon arrival in Luxor, your guide will be waiting to greet you. Your first stop will be the Valley of the Kings, a renowned necropolis that contains the tombs of the ancient Egyptian kings.
Next, you'll travel to the incredible Temple of Hatshepsut, which is famous for being the first temple in Egypt to be dedicated to a female pharaoh. Hatshepsut was an important figure in ancient Egyptian history and her temple, also known as El Deir Al Bahri or 'Western Monastery,' was later used as a monastery during the Christian era.
Colossi of Memnon. These two statues, each standing 18 meters tall, are the only remaining structures of the temple of Amenhotep III and are truly impressive to behold.
Following lunch. we will head to the incredible Karnak temple complex, located in the ancient city of Thebes. This complex is dedicated to the powerful god Amun and features an extensive mix of temples, chapels, statues, and obelisks. The complex was connected to the town of Luxor via a long avenue lined with sphinxes. One of the most photographed areas is the Hypostyle Hall, which boasts an impressive 134 towering columns, each intricately carved with scenes of gods and pharaohs. The walls are also covered with hieroglyphic inscriptions, making it a truly awe-inspiring sight to behold.
After visiting the Karnak complex, we will head to the Luxor Temple located in the heart of the city. Here you can appreciate the stunning obelisks and statues of the great King Ramesses. Despite being smaller than Karnak, this temple is still an impressive site to behold and offers a glimpse into the grandeur of ancient Egyptian architecture and design.
After visiting Luxor, you'll be transferred to Luxor Train Station to catch the 6:20 pm First Class Sitting train to Aswan. The journey will take approximately 3 hours. On arrival, our representative will be waiting for you to transfer you to your hotel in Aswan for the overnight stay.
You will be picked up by an air-conditioned vehicle in the early hours of the morning at around 4:30 am (sharing with a small group) for a visit to the UNESCO world heritage site of Abu Simbel. This site was completely dismantled and rebuilt when Lake Nasser was flooded. After a drive of you will be met by your Egyptology guide who will accompany you to the magnificent temples of Abu Simbel, providing you with fascinating stories and insights into the history of these iconic ancient Egyptian sights.
After returning from Abu Simbel, you can have lunch in Aswan and then continue your sightseeing tour of the city. Visit the stunning Temple of Isis on Philae Island, which was rescued from being submerged in Lake Nasser. Later, head to Aswan Airport for your evening flight back to Cairo (you need to book it yourself). On arrival in Cairo, you will be met by a representative and transferred to your hotel for overnight stay.
Please have your breakfast and get ready for a day tour to the Egyptian Museum, which houses an incredible Tutankhamun exhibition. Here, you can witness his magnificent golden mask along with many of the royal mummies of the New Kingdom era. Explore the vast collection of artifacts spread across numerous rooms and galleries, and immerse yourself in the wonders of ancient Egypt.
After having lunch at a local restaurant (optional), you will embark on a journey to explore some of the most famous churches in Cairo. Your first stop will be the Hanging Church and the Church of St. George the Martyr, both built into the walls of the Babylon Fortress, which could be Cairo's oldest structures. Next, you will visit the Church of St. Sergius and the Synagogue. Afterward, you will be driven back to your hotel.
In the evening, you can choose to either visit Cairo's Khan Al-Khalili Bazaar, which is an essential Egyptian experience, where you can explore the fascinating marketplace and immerse yourself in the colors and aromas, or you can visit the famous Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali Pasha at Salah Al Din Citadel. The choice is yours.
