The Citadel
Jabal al-Qala is one of the seven mountains of Amman, which the Ammonians have long taken as the seat of their rule in the city, followed by Greece, romans and Byzantines who occupied the city respectively until it was occupied by the Islamic conquest in the 7th century AD, where the Umayyad Palace was built on its top.
