(Day1 Recommended) Let's gather information about Shakotan.
In Shakotan, you can enjoy seasonal seafood at local restaurants. Recommended places include "Shokujidokoro Jun" and "Fuji Sushi Shakotan Main Branch."
(Day 1 Recommended) Shimamui Coast is one of the most scenic spots on the Shakotan Peninsula, known for its dramatic cliffs and emerald-green waters. Visitors can enjoy a stunning view from the observation deck, which is reached through a tunnel.
(Day 1 Recommended) The "Face of Eken" is a naturally shaped rock formation located in the Hizuka area of Shakotan Town. It was named for its resemblance to a human profile. This unique rock is a popular photo spot and is also considered a spiritual place by some locals.
(Day 1 Recommended)Misaki-no-Yu Shakotan is a day-use hot spring facility located on a hill at the tip of the Shakotan Peninsula, featuring an open-air bath with a stunning panoramic view of the Sea of Japan. The sunset view in the evening is especially beautiful, offering a relaxing experience for both body and mind. Admission is ¥1,000 for adults and ¥500 for children. Please note that the facility is closed every Wednesday.
At Nagomi-no-Yado Iida, guests can enjoy a special dining experience featuring freshly prepared seafood, expertly filleted right before their eyes. The accommodation is housed in a renovated “banya,” a traditional building once used by wealthy fishermen, offering a glimpse into the atmosphere and culture of old Hokkaido.
(Day 2) Before departure, you can also enjoy a unique local activity—crab fishing along the rocky seashore.
We recommend Cape Kamui as your driving destination. The tip of Cape Kamui offers a stunning 300-degree panoramic view, one of the best spots to truly experience the beauty of Hokkaido. It takes about 20 minutes on foot to reach the end of the cape, so please wear comfortable walking shoes.
For lunch, Misaki-no-Yu Shakotan is highly recommended. A Taiwanese chef living in Shakotan prepares unique "Shakotan × Taiwan" cuisine, combining local ingredients with authentic Taiwanese recipes. *Please note that the facility is closed on Wednesdays and cannot be used on that day.
