Transportation and Guide will pick up clients from their hotels between 7:15 AM and 7:45 AM. Please be ready in the hotel lobby by 7:15 AM.
The maximum waiting time for clients is 5 minutes.
*If your hotel is not on the list or is not near the historic center, you will need to go to the meeting point at Jerusalen 604-A by 7:15 AM.
- At the beginning of our excursion, we will enjoy the majestic views of the Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu volcanoes before approaching the Reserve of “Pampa Cañahuas” which belongs to the National Reserve of “Salinas y Aguada Blanca”, where our transportation will make several stops to observe the wild Vicuñas (one of the 4 types of American camels) in its natural habitat and nature. At this point we will be about 4,000m. - After a considerable time to enjoy the area and take pictures, we continued the journey. - We will take a short detour to visit the stone forest of Puruña, where we will appreciate and explore its fascinating rock formations and have great panoramic views from this side of the National Reserve. - We return to the main road and visit a local restaurant where you can enjoy a mate de coca and a presentation of how local women work with alpaca fiber and the use of Andean plants. *Restroom service is available in this restaurant.
We make a brief detour to visit the Puruña Stone Forest, where we explore and admire its fascinating rock formations while enjoying panoramic views of the National Reserve from this unique vantage point. This stop lasts approximately 45 to 60 minutes, with time to explore and take photographs.
Continuing on the road we will pass “Tocra”, a high plain at more than 4,400 meters, where we will observe lakes and wetland with wild birds and get pictures of the “Antiplano” with its Llamas and Alpacas. - The highest point of our tour will be “Pata Pampa” (also called the Viewpoint of the Andes) located at 4,910 meters, where we’ll observe the volcanoes Ampato, Sabancaya, Hualca-Hualca, Mismi and the “Cordillera de Chila”.
When we are getting closer to the town of Chivay (3,651 meters) we will start gazing the spectacular multicolor view of the terraces of the Colca valley. -Continue along the right bank of the canyon until we arrive to the traditional village of Coporaque. -In the village we will visit the Lodge "La Casa de Mamayacchi" (free time for lunch) - In the Lodge and with the assistance of your guide; you will learn how to prepare a typical dish or trying on some of the most traditional costumes of the Colca Valley.
-Visit to thermal baths of town (On request we provided transport). -Return to your hotel (Accomodation in a Double/Twin room.
Breakfast early in the morning and leave to the famous “Cruz del Cóndor” viewpoint. (We will drive to our point taking now the leaf side of the Colca canyon) - Arrive to the viewpoint and time enough to have an enjoyable view of the canyon and spectacular pictures of the gliding flight of the Andean Condor. - After a coordinated time, our guide will take you for a short walk near the Canyon (1-hour approx.). In order to have more opportunities to appreciate the condors, enjoy the canyon and the spectacular panorama. - On the way back to Chivay town we’re going to visit the traditional village of Pinchollo and enjoy the views of the “Antahuilque viewpoint”, where 1,500-year-old terraces can be observed. - Keeping our route, we pass the look-out point of Choquetico and take a look to the litomaqueta; a model of the canyon terraces carved in a rock.
On the way back to Chivay, we visit the Antahuilque viewpoint (terraces over 1,500 years old) and pass through the traditional villages of Maca and Yanque.
We arrive in Chivay around midday. Lunch in Chivay is not included. Departure to Arequipa after lunch, arriving at approximately 4:00 PM."
