Swakopmund, especially out of season, can feel like a holiday town along Germany’s North Sea and Baltic coasts transplanted onto African soil. It has laid back feel to it with palm trees, good restaurants and gift shops. We will drive via scenic Damaraland and stop along the way to visit a Himba Village. If time allows, we will also visit the Cape Cross Seal Colony and get a chance to also see a shipwreck along the coast. Settle into your luxurious accommodation taking in spectacular views of the Namib dunes, relax for the rest of the afternoon or explore this cute little German town. Sunset Yoga will either be on the beach overlooking the Atlantic Ocean or the Namib Desert, depending on the weather, followed by your choice of restaurant.
Ground yourself with your bare feet as we flow this morning in the Namib Desert overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. After breakfast, we will make our way down south to Sossusvlei, undoubtedly Namibia's most iconic landscape, located in the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The drive is around 5 hours and we will stop at the Tropic of Capricorn, take some photos and have a little picnic before continuing. Settle into Desert Quiver Camp and take some time to relax at the pool before our sunset yoga flow that will allow you to reflect, breathe and simply take in the peacefulness of all that surrounds you.
We will stop over at the Tropic of Capricorn on the way to Sossusvlei
We will spend most of the day in the dunes exploring the area. After a light picnic breakfast in the desert, and if you are up for it, climb Big Daddy, one of the highest dunes in the world. Returning from your adventurous excursion you will have some time to sit and enjoy a lunch, which is well earned after the morning out in the desert. “The area is simply breath-taking and no words or photographs can really do it justice. At sunrise and sunset, the light highlights the dunes and brings to life the multitude of colors which give it depth and dimension.” Spend the afternoon relaxing or if you simply can’t get enough of what this area has to offer, head off again on an afternoon activity. An hour before sunset we will meet with our guide for an afternoon sunset nature drive and a short meditation walk on this magical land, before our private outdoor bush dinner in the Desert.
This morning will be an early start for more activities. Those of you who choose to go on the optional Hot Air-Ballooning will be back in time for our departure.
