The Taipei Xia-Hai City God Temple is a temple dedicated to the City God or Cheng Huang Ye in Taipei, Taiwan. The temple was built in 1856. Located in Da-Dao Cheng, a port city that at the time was one of the better-developed areas in Taiwan, the Xia-Hai City God temple ensures prosperity and peace through its blessings.
One of these tea shops, run by the Wang family, moved to Taiwan from China in 1890. Their shop was their base for the export of tea to Southeast Asia. We will have the opportunity to visit Wang’s tea factory and discover the traditional way to produce and store tea. The store’s staff and our friendly guides will guide you through the basic types of tea (oolong, black, green, tieguanyin, etc.) and demonstrate how to perform a Taiwanese tea ceremony.
Exhibits on the history & process of tea production, housed in a grand, western-style 1930s factory. Shin Hong Choon Tea” was built in 1934 by a Dadaocheng tea merchant who came to Taiwan to seek business opportunities. The building of the Japanese colonial period that incorporates the features of eastern and western architecture is one of the few completely preserved mansions in Taipei City that serve both residential and commercial purposes. It was designated as a municipal historic site in 2009
Hawker stalls & river views at a lively quayside plaza & walkway with nighttime illuminations. Located near the No. 5 Water Gate on the banks of the Tamsui River, Dadaocheng Wharf thrived in earlier years as an entrepot for trade along the river. Tea, cotton and silk textiles were among the main products bought and sold here, attracting trading companies from across the western world. Dadaocheng's fortunes as a trading center went into decline during the Japanese colonial era. In recent years, however, this area has experienced a revival as a tourism destination, bicycling spot, and departure point for boat tours along the Tamsui River.
