The Taxila Museum is located in Taxila, Punjab, Pakistan. The museum houses a significant and extensive collection of Gandharian art dating from the 1st to 7th centuries AD. Most of the objects in the collection were recovered from the ruins of ancient Taxila. There are many historical sites near the museum.
The Dharmarajika Stupa, also called the Great Stupa of Taxila, is a Buddhist stupa near Taxila, Pakistan. It was built over relics of Buddha Ashoka in the 3rd century BC.
Sirkap was built by Demetrius, a Greco-Bactrian king, in 180 BC. Demetrius established an Indo-Greek kingdom that lasted until 10 BC. King Menander I also rebuilt Sirkap. The excavation of the old city was conducted by Hergrew from 1912 to 1930, under the supervision of Sir John Marshall. In 1944 and 1945, Mortimer Wheeler and his colleagues further excavated parts of Sirkap. Most of the discoveries at Sirkap are related to the Indo-Scythian and Indo-Parthian periods, which occurred from the 1st to 2nd century CE.
Jaulian is a ruined Buddhist monastery in Taxila, Pakistan. It is part of the Ruins of Taxila, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Jaulian has a main sacred area with a central stupa and smaller votive stupas, as well as a monastery with two courtyards and many chapels. It was once one of the world's oldest universities, attracting students from various regions.
