You will visit the Archaeological Site of Delphi, one of the most important and fascinating historical sites in Greece. Known as the center of the ancient world, Delphi was home to the famous Oracle of Apollo, where people from all over the ancient world came to seek guidance from the god. During our visit, you will explore the Temple of Apollo, as well as the Ancient Theater, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. You will also see the Stadium of Delphi, where the ancient Pythian Games were held and the Tholos of Athena Pronaia, one of the most iconic monuments of the site. Next, you will go to the Delphi Archaeological Museum, which houses a rich collection of artifacts discovered in the area. Some of the highlights include the famous Charioteer of Delphi, an exceptional bronze statue, the Sphinx of Naxos, and the twin statues of Kleobis and Biton. These masterpieces provide insight into the artistic and cultural achievements of ancient Greece.
During our trip, we will make a stop at Arachova, a picturesque mountain town built on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. Known as the "Winter Mykonos" of Greece, Arachova is famous for its traditional stone houses, charming alleys, and vibrant atmosphere. This popular destination is well known for its ski resort, making it a favorite winter getaway. However, it is also a great place to visit year-round, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and lush landscapes. While in Arachova, we will have the chance to stroll through the town, explore local shops selling handmade carpets, textiles, and traditional products. Arachova is also known for its delicious local cheese, Formaela, which is a must-try for food lovers.
On the second day of our trip, we will visit the breathtaking Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning rock formations and historic monasteries perched on top of towering cliffs. These monasteries, built by monks seeking spiritual solitude, offer a unique combination of natural beauty and religious heritage. We will explore two of the Meteora monasteries, where we will admire remarkable frescoes, ancient manuscripts, and incredible views of the surrounding landscape. The monasteries, which date back to the 14th and 15th centuries, are a testament to the resilience and devotion of the monks who built them in such an inaccessible location.
After our visit to Meteora, we will make a stop at Thermopylae, the famous battlefield where King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans fought against the Persian army in 480 BC. Here, we will see the monument of Leonidas, dedicated to this heroic stand, and learn more about one of the most legendary battles in history.
