Discover the terroir of Rivesaltes with Nicolas, former cellar master and passionate Guide. In a small group of up to 8 people, this half-day tour takes you to the heart of one of Roussillon's vineyards.
You cross the Roussillon plain from Domaine Boudau, a Certified Organic Family Winery. The Pyrenees and the Mediterranean frame the landscape.
Nicolas Guides you through the vineyards and explains how the soil, the Mediterranean climate and the local grape varieties shape each wine. In the wine cellar, you will discover the key stages of production: fermentation, aging in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels, blending.
The tour ends with a guided tasting of the wines of the estate: dry white and red wines, and the famous Natural Sweet Wines of Rivesaltes, among the most remarkable in France.
This experience is aimed at both wine lovers and beginners.
After your reception at the estate, you will leave for a getaway in the vineyard where you will discover the specificity of the Rivesaltes terroir as well as the farming methods in Organic Farming. This is where it all begins: you will understand the impact of this terroir, the climate and the grape varieties. Always accompanied by your guide, head to the wine cellar. You will discover the key stages of winemaking and work in the cellar. You will observe the influence of aging on different cuvées, in stainless steel vats or in barrels, there is always a reason! Finally, end your visit to the cellar with an introduction to wine tasting. You will learn the different stages of tasting and you will be able to begin to put words, feelings on the wines you will taste. After this morning, the wines of Rivesaltes will have no more secrets for you!
