This tour gives you the unique opportunity to discover another region of Iceland: The Icelandic Highlands. And we are doing so, by offering you an itinerary that provides a balance between gazing at beautiful landscapes and actively hiking through them.
The Icelandic Highlands are only open during the summer.
It is a vast, uninhabited desert in the middle of the island. This is the real Iceland, remote, and untouched.
To access this paradise, one must ride on rugged roads, this is why our tours are happening in a specially modified 4x4 LandCruiser, to drive you there in safety and comfort.
If this tour is focused on hiking, some sightseeing stops are also planned to enjoy the beauty of the highlands and take a few pictures.
At the end of the day, should you wish to, you can take a dip in a hot spring.
We will be picking you up from the location of your choosing. Whether it is at your hotel or any custom location, we will come and pick you up
To reach our first destination, we will drive around 2,5 hours. If the first part will be on paved roads, the second part will take place on backroads and tracks. This is why we are doing this tour in our specially modified Toyota Land Cruiser. Among desolated and deserted landscapes, we will be driving on rugged roads, far away from civilization. Eventually, those roads will make us cross a few rivers.
Before beginning our hiking journey in the Landmannalaugar, we will stop by Ljótipollur. Ljótipollur is a multicolor crater lake. Its name means "The ugly pot". Obviously, this name does not reflect the immense beauty of the crater.
We have arrived our final destination: The Landmannalaugar This volcanic region, located in the Icelandic Highlands, is a true hikers paradise. WIth your guide, depending on your wishes and the weather, you will pick one or two hikes among the many that one can do there. We highly recommend the following: - Hike towards Bláhnúkur: The most challenging, but also the most rewarding one! - Hike in Grænagíl and Laugarhraun Definitely among the easiest ones in the area. Between Lava fields and fumaroles, this hike gives an exhaustive overview of the Landmannalaugar. -Hike to Brennisteinalda This hike is a perfect compromise between the two others, and can actually easily be combined with the latest.
On our way back, we will stop and gaze at the countless waterfalls in the canyon of Sigöldugljúfur. This canyon, which was filmed in the Netflix show "The Witcher" is also called "The Valley of Tears"
We will drive back to your hotel, which should take about 3 hours.
