Enjoy a unique jungle experience with our day tour to Sandoval Lake in the Tambopata National Reserve. Includes river transportation, a guided hike, a paddleboat ride, and a traditional lunch (juane). See exotic birds, monkeys, caimans, and, if you're lucky, giant otters. We are a local agency with expert guides, small groups, and personalized attention. Ideal for those who have little time in Puerto Maldonado and want to experience the best of the Amazon in a single day.

We'll meet at the meeting point to begin this full-day adventure in the Tambopata National Reserve. We'll sail for 45 minutes along the Madre de Dios River to the start of a 3-km hike through the tropical rainforest that will take us to the impressive Sandoval Lake. Once at the lake, home to piranhas and various wildlife, we'll take a rowboat ride to observe the local fauna up close. We'll be able to see birds such as cormorants, jacanas, and puma herons, as well as howler monkeys, woodpeckers, sloths, and, with a bit of luck, giant otters or caimans. After exploring, we'll enjoy a well-deserved rest and a delicious traditional lunch: juane, prepared with rice, chicken, eggs, and olives, wrapped in a bijao leaf. Finally, we'll return by boat to Puerto Maldonado, where the experience concludes.
