Offered in: English

Did you know that the roots of kosher Ashkenazi cuisine are right here in the heart of Krakow’s Jewish Quarter? The taste of European Jewish cuisine is unique and spectacular, unlike anything you have ever tasted in your life! During our tour, you will have the opportunity to taste and compare both modern Ashkenazi and Israeli cuisine. Through food, you will understand the history and heritage of the Jews—why Israeli cuisine is so different from that of European Jews, who invented the Ashkenazi kosher rules, and how the roots of Ashkenazi cuisine can be found in Krakow. The guide will introduce us to several local restaurants and cafes, allowing us to enjoy excellent food in a small group while learning about Ashkenazi Jewish traditions or customs related to the preparation and consumption of the dishes we sample. This tour includes a selection of Israeli mezze, a full Ashkenazi Jewish meal consisting of starters and a second course, a unique Polish Jewish dessert, and Jewish vodka.
