The Karnak religious complex and its temples are one of the places of greatest historical value in Egyptian history. This is due to the way these temples were built at the time. These were built starting with the central sanctuary and then the outer areas. Because the main temple (of Luxor) is dedicated to the God Amun-Ra (god of creation and the sun), many pharaohs expanded the temple with new monuments to honor the main god of the Egyptian pantheon.
This temple stands out for being located on an axis perpendicular to the Nile River, which demonstrates the fundamental importance that the river had for the ancient Egyptians. Inside, you can admire a hypostyle hall with more than 5,000 square meters and 134 columns, some of which reach a height of 23 meters. In addition, there are two other deities represented in different statues and columns: Mut and Jonsu.
Dedicated to the ancient local warrior god, Montu.
Dedicated to the goddess Mut, who, together with Amun and Jonsu, formed the main triad of divinities of Thebes.
The Temple of Hatshepsut is carved into the limestone cliffs high above the desert in the Deir el-Bahari valley. Seeing it from afar is a unique and impressive image that you will never forget. The temple is one of the most impressive works of architecture in the world, stepped platforms, colonnaded porticos and vivid reliefs contrast with a desert background. This funerary temple was built in honor of Amon-Ra, the Sun God.
Up here, in the huge rock, countless tombs were discovered, today we will visit 3 of the most beautiful. The impressive wall paintings of the tombs tell their stories. You will be surprised at how well preserved these drawings are, made with natural colors such as egg yolks. A true masterpiece! There is much that has yet to be discovered in the world-famous valley, and on our way to the Valley of the Kings, we are likely to encounter an archaeologist or two in search of new discoveries.
These statues, weighing more than 720 tons each, are the last vestige of the largest temple in Egypt that was dedicated to Pharaoh Amenhotep III. These statues tell at their base the story of the god who causes the annual floods of the Nile River “Hapy”. Being in an area affected by these floods, the temple of Amenhotep III has completely disappeared and the statues have suffered millennia of deterioration in which its legend has grown.
