The Danube Delta is a wonderful place, a Natural Biosphere Reserve, which contains a unique mix of flora and fauna. It is declared a protected area of world interest and is the largest wetland in Europe. Delta is a very difficult to access and very sparsely populated area, devoid of industrial activities, with a population consisting mainly of Lipovans, Haholi and Romanians whose basic occupations are fishing and animal breeding. It is definitely an area with a special energy, with special people and places, which once visited makes you want to come back
Participants can be picked up from the hotel or airport.
The parking lot of the IKEA store.
Day 1 involves the most challenges: instruction, the first contact with the delta, the longest rowing distance. It comes with the adrenaline generated by the discovery of a wonderful place, the pleasant feeling of rowing on the canals of the delta and the tranquility that surrounds you. We leave from the shore around 10.00-10.30 a.m. after briefly getting to know each other and going through a thorough briefing on the safety rules and handling of the canoes. The planned route to be traveled is Mahmudia, Litcov canal, Caraorman canal with the specification that we can opt for a different route that includes Isac and Uzlina lakes if the weather conditions allow it. The route can be completed in 6-8 hours depending on the homogeneity of the group. We have planned rehydration and snack breaks with an almost hourly frequency, lunch halfway along the route, dinner at the campsite. We stay camped in the area until the next day
After having breakfast, we set off to explore the Carorman Forest with the intention of reaching the Kneeling Oak, the oldest and largest oak ar from the delta. Padurea este de tip mediteraneean, cu vegetatie abundenta si liane, un mix de oaze vegetale denumite ,,hasmac,, si dune de nisip and it is similar to the one from Letea. On the way back, we stop at the bodega in the center of the village to get in touch with the locals and the local culture. After lunch we leave by motorized boat on the route Lake Puiu, Lake Rosu, Belt Canal, Sfantu Gheorghe. After camping, we leave for the mouth of the Danube in the sea with the intention of witnessing the meeting of sweet and salty waters and a memorable sunset. Those who wish can bathe in the waters of the Black Sea, which at sunset are just as good to try. On the way to the campsite, we stop to have a delicious dinner. The evening continues at the camping site....
After having breakfast, we go on a short boat trip, a trip that we do both on the waters of the Danube Delta and the Black Sea. Its purpose is to observe the local fauna and flora but also to make contact for the last time with the Black Sea coast. On the way back, we take a rehydration break, have a small snack and prepare to return to the place where we left. The way back, we do it with the help of a motorized boat and it involves traveling an important portion of the Sfantul Gheorghe canal. It is a pleasant way to end this tour and to re-enter the daily routine. We will arrive at the point where we embarked around lunchtime
