New residential villages appeared in Shanghai as early as the 1920s, and by the 1930s. they were already an important part of the geography of residential life. Chinese communist party adopted the idea of combining living quarter with ideal garden city ,and created a comfortable living quarter for the working class to separate from the radical capitalist city space . In 2017 ,the community went on a thorough renovation and now it took on a brand new look.
