The experience includes a visit to an estate winery for a guided tasting of four distinctive volcanic wines, paired with Cycladic cheeses and seasonal local bites. You will also enjoy a relaxing break in Megalochori Village for coffee, a traditional sweet, and conversation, followed by a cultural stroll through its charming narrow streets, admiring the picturesque architecture of houses, shops, and churches. The day concludes with a memorable sunset viewed from a hilltop, offering sweeping panoramic vistas.

Meeting and pickup
For those arriving with their own transportation, meeting at Family Bakery 15 minutes before the activity starts. There is a parking lot with lots of space near by. The bus stop from Fira or from Perissa or Akrotiri is in front of the bakery.

Megalochori in Santorini is one of the most traditional villages of Santorini. It lies on a hill and is characterized as a labyrinth of steep alleys and streets. Unaffected by mass tourism, Megalochori retains its wonderful architecture.

Gavalas family winery, one of the oldest wineries in Santorini, lies in the traditional village of Megalochori. With proper respect to the local varieties, they are focused on limited production bottlings. Gavalas Winery vinifies the most vibrant variety in Greece, Assyrtiko, as well as Aidani, Mandilaria, and Mavrotragano. In order to show the richness of the land, they are the only winery in Santorini that vinifies the indigenous rare varieties of Katsano and Voudomato.

It is located in Megalochori village, near the charming little chapel of Agios Nikolaos. The spot offers some wonderful views, especially if you are looking for a less crowded place to watch the sunset and capture some Instagram-worthy pictures with your partner at one of the most romantic locations in Santorini!

5Venetsanos Winery
Venetsanos Winery is located right above the port of Athinios, overlooking the magnificent caldera of Santorini. The Venetsanos family has a very long tradition of producing wine. Originally was produced for the island and subsequently, it was exported extensively, particularly to countries such as Russia. It was built in 1947 by the Venetsanos family and became the first industrial winery on the island. Its most distinguishing feature is the structural design, which essentially used gravity, facilitating energy efficiency, at a time when access to electricity and other energy sources was very limited. The winery was built in an unconventional manner constructed from above and moving downwards
