    After check-in, you have the rest of the day free to explore local shops and restaurants around town, or venture outside El Calafate to surrounding areas like Laguna Nimez, where you’ll see a beautiful sunset (the front desk personnel at your hotel can give you information on transportation, hiking and more).

    El Calafate - Full-Day MiniTrekking Tour on the Perito Moreno Glacier

    In the morning, we will pick you up at your hotel to start your first adventure. Today, you will go on a full-day tour to Los Glaciares National Park, where you’ll see the glacier from different angles and even get to walk on its surface.

    After entering the park, you will stroll the walkways and balconies, assessed by a Tourist Guide, and you will be assigned a meeting time for your transfer to the port.

    Once at the port area, you will board your boat and sail for about 20 minutes to access the southern wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier. On the opposite shore, you will be split into small groups, and guides will provide the equipment needed and give some basic instructions on how to walk on ice. Then, the adventure begins! For about 1 hour, you will walk on the glacier to appreciate the variety of ice formations as well as its cracks, turquoise lagoons, seracs, glacier mills and small ponds. After taking in the light-blueness of this incredible icy landscape from up-close, you will walk through the periglacial area and the lateral moraine from where you will have a panoramic view of the glacier, the mountains and the lake. Following up, you will cross the lush Andean Patagonian forest and then recover with a hot drink before sailing back to the pier. You will return to your hotel in the late afternoon. You will have about an hour to stop for lunch (box lunch included).

    Los Glaciares National Park

    Today, enjoy your journey from your hotel to the southern landscape of Los Glaciares National Park, a little known area and completely off the beaten path. The journey goes through route 15 (an old route of estancias) towards Roca Lake located inside Los Glaciares National Park, 40 minutes away from El Calafate.

    Lago Argentino

    Close to Nibepo Aike ranch house, you will embark on a semi-rigid boat to navigate through the south arm of Argentine Lake. Once you’ve reached the southernmost end of the lake, you will disembark to enter an unexplored site, only accessible by foot. You will walk deep into Patagonian woods towards Frias Lake and you will hike uphill until reaching a natural lookout with amazing views; be impressed by lands formerly covered by glaciers. You will then embark again to cross to the opposite shore in a motorized zodiac boat.

    Once ashore, you will take a hike to Big Glacier. On that walk, you will access a glacier valley with exposed glacier evidence and later on the Amphitheater of the Glaciers. There, you will be able to enjoy lunch with a view of Grande, Dickson and Cubo Glaciers. After lunch at this wonderful place, you will make your way back through the same hiking trails and boats that were previously used. You will get back to your hotel in the evening. The hike includes nearly 6 hours of walking.

    Enjoy your last few hours in El Calafate! You may go to the downtown area for some souvenirs before departing to your next destination. At the appropriate time, you’ll have a shared transfer to El Calafate airport. NOTES: PLEASE, KINDLY READ OUR RESTRICTIONS BEFORE BOOKING THIS TOUR. You can read them in the Additional info tab. Our itinerary is pretty flexible so if you need to add any extra nights or extra tours just make sure to let us know in advance using the special requirements box while booking and we will quote it for you.
