The park is situated in a rift valley where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet, making it one of the only places in the world where you can see two continents drifting apart. It is also the site where Iceland's parliament, Althing, was founded in 930 AD, making it one of the oldest functioning parliaments in the world. You will reach to park to after a comfortable drive of 1 hour.

    Geysir Geothermal Area is a must-visit attraction known for its bubbling hot springs and spouting geysers.
