The Oyster Tour is a guided boat tour to the oyster farming areas outside Havstenssund, located on Sweden’s west coast in northern Bohuslän. This experience combines scenic coastal boating with insight into traditional oyster cultivation in one of Scandinavia’s most respected oyster regions.
You learn how oysters are farmed, harvested, and handled, as well as how seasonal conditions, water quality, and sustainability practices affect production. When tasting is permitted, a tasting of freshly harvested oysters is included directly at sea.
From Midsummer to September, oyster harvesting pauses due to natural spawning cycles.
During this period, the tour focuses on farming structures, cultivation methods, marine ecology, and the surrounding archipelago, offering a comprehensive and educational experience even without tasting.
This oyster safari is ideal for food lovers, small private groups, and visitors looking for an authentic seafood experience in Bohuslän.

Before we set off into the archipelago, you’ll have a moment to enjoy the atmosphere of this bustling yet authentic Bohuslän harbor — the perfect introduction to your journey out on the sea.

Experience the unique charm of Havstenssund as we glide through one of the West Coast’s most picturesque straits. This narrow, winding waterway is surrounded by smooth red granite cliffs shaped by centuries of wind and sea. As we pass through the channel, you’ll feel the closeness of the rocks on both sides, see traditional fishermen’s cottages along the shoreline, and enjoy classic Bohuslän scenery. Havstenssund is also one of the West Coast’s key oyster areas and home to the renowned oyster farm Havstenssunds Ostron AB, adding an authentic taste of local maritime culture to the experience. Guests interested in learning more about oysters can also choose to book a special Oyster Tour as an add-on experience.
