Make Homemade Turkish Baklava with a Local in Ankara

Step into a welcoming home in Ankara’s Dikmen neighborhood and discover how traditional, homemade Turkish baklava is prepared — not the store-bought kind, but made from scratch the way it’s been passed down in family kitchens for generations.

You’ll start with tea and snacks, then dive into each step: preparing the syrup, kneading and rolling dough, making the walnut filling, and layering everything just right before baking.

While the baklava bakes, you’ll also prepare a savory börek and a fresh meze like kısır or lentil balls. Finally, we’ll enjoy everything we made together over Turkish coffee and good conversation.

This is a hands-on experience, and all ingredients are provided. Recipes will be sent to you afterward so you can recreate the magic at home.

1. The baklava contains walnuts and is not suitable for guests with nut allergies.
2. The class lasts around 4 hours — because making baklava properly takes time, and we don’t rush good things.
