The second stop is the Castle of San Antonio de Salgar is a building located in the corregimiento of Salgar, municipality of Puerto Colombia, in the northwest of the department of Atlantico, Colombia. It is located 15 minutes from Barranquilla. It was built in 1848 on the ruins of the old fort of San Antonio. It is located on a slope west of the beaches of Salgar. It is a place of historical interest, as it was a Spanish fort that served as a prison. Initially, this architectural work was built as "the fort of San Antonio", to inspect and control smuggling. Later, at the beginning of the Republic, General Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera injected a significant investment to adapt it as a customs control station.
