The Camellón de los Martires is one of the most emblematic sites related to the emancipation of Cartagena de Indias (1810 - 1821), one of the most outstanding political events of the former Viceroyalty of La Nueva Granada, when the Republic of Colombia, today, was a colony of the Spanish empire. The Camellón, Plaza or Paseo de los Martires, as it has been known interchangeably over the years, is located in front of the current Clock Tower. Separated by two tracks, there is the Pegasus Pier, the Cartagena Convention Center and the Centennial Park of Independence.
Cartagena de Indias Clock Tower is one of the most important colonial architectural jewels in Colombia, also known as Puerta del Reloj or Boca del Puente; its historical and architectural importance have led it to become an important cultural heritage of Colombians.
After visiting the Gethsemane neighborhood is also one of the artistic neighborhoods, which welcomes visitors with its walls completely filled with incredible murals. There are two specific streets, La Sierpe and San Juan, where all the walls are canvases for artists. Also, you can find some in Trinity Square, and in Holy Spirit Street.
