Unlike other activities, this tour provides an intimate, hands-on experience in creating two iconic Vietnamese cultural items: the conical hat (nón lá) and the tuồng mask. What's Included
Meeting and pickup
Guests will meet at the gathering point and enjoy tea or coffee before being transported by a local electric vehicle to meet the artisans, located 4 km away. During the ride, they will also have the opportunity to tour the city of Quy Nhon on the electric vehicle
What to expect
Meet the 93-year-old artisan, who has over 75 years of experience in making Vietnam’s iconic conical hats. The artisan will share the history and cultural significance of the conical hat in Vietnamese life.
Conical Hat Making Experience:
Under the careful guidance of the artisan, guests will participate in the detailed process of making their own conical hat. From selecting materials to shaping the frame and finishing touches, guests will craft a unique souvenir with their own hands.
Traditional Mask Painting:
After completing the conical hat, guests will dive into the art of painting tuồng masks, an essential element of Vietnam’s traditional opera (hát bội). The artisan will explain the different characters and their traits as represented in the mask designs.
Receive Souvenirs:
At the end of the experience, each guest will take home a small conical hat and a tuồng mask that they personally made, as a memorable keepsake of their cultural journey in Vietnam.
Drop-off at 18 Hải Thượng Lãn Ông:
After a creative and culturally enriching day, guests will be dropped back at 18 Hải Thượng Lãn Ông, concluding the experience with lasting memories.
