    Pyramids of Giza

    Around 2550 B.C, Pharaoh Khufu initiated the construction of the largest and first pyramid, towering at approximately 147 meters above the plateau, using an estimated 2.3 million stone blocks, each weighing an average of 2.5 to 15 tons! Around 2520 B.C, Khufu's son, Pharaoh Khafre, commenced the building of the second pyramid, which was accompanied by his necropolis housing the enigmatic limestone monument, the Sphinx. The Sphinx, featuring a lion's body and a pharaoh's head, may have served as the guardian of the pharaoh's entire tomb complex. Around 2490 B.C, Pharaoh Menkaure embarked on constructing the third Pyramid, which was noticeably smaller than the first two. However, it boasted a much more intricate temple.
