The day before departure, we will send you information on the excursion's organization by WhatsApp and email.
Pick-up and transfer to the city of Nauta. We will then begin our navigation along one of the main tributaries of the world’s largest river, the Marañón River, aboard comfortable and safe traditional boats. The journey along the Marañón River will allow you to appreciate a wonderful panorama where the river’s magnificence carves its way through the lush jungle, with an approximate travel time of 3 hours. During the journey, you may observe pink and grey dolphins (“bufeos”) and various types of birds.
Lunch on board. We will then arrive at the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, where we will make a stop to collect our entry passes for the reserve.
-BASE CAMP: BUENOS AIRES Upon arrival at the camp, you will receive a brief explanation of the sustainability rules that govern the camp and its surroundings, which will help you better understand how to make your stay in the NATIONAL RESERVE more enjoyable. -Visit around the shelter.
Dinner.
-NIGHT EXCURSION: Through the lush jungle to observe different species of insects, tarantulas, frogs, scorpions, monkeys, and nocturnal birds. -Overnight stay at the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
-AMAZONIAN SUNRISE: Observation of this and exotic birds: During the early morning hours, it is the ideal time to observe many bird species that feed along the riverbanks, as well as witness the majestic sunrise that marks the beginning of a new day in the national reserve. -Breakfast at the camp.
PINK AND GREY DOLPHIN SIGHTING WILDLIFE SEARCH
PIRANHA FISHING: We will prepare to start the Artisanal Fishing tour. Here, the guide will teach us local techniques for catching piranhas or other species using the same materials that jungle inhabitants use for subsistence. (We can taste what we catch.)
- SWIM IN THE MARAÑÓN RIVER: After enjoying the rich wildlife within the reserve, we will prepare to head to the refreshing waters of the Marañón River and swim near the pink dolphins. - Lunch.
BOTANICAL WALK: A walk to learn about the main medicinal trees and plants found in the Amazon, many of which have healing properties and others with mystical attributes. Our guide will explain each one along the way.
- WILDLIFE SIGHTING: On the way, we will observe even more diverse wildlife, such as macaws, paucares, kingfishers, and other bird species of the reserve. - Dinner.
- NIGHT NAVIGATION: We will navigate the Pucate River by canoe to search for caimans, observing and learning about their role in nature. We will also witness fireflies and enjoy the nocturnal sounds of the Amazon jungle. - Overnight stay at the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
-Breakfast. -Return to the base camp in the “Buenos Aires” community.
CRAFT FAIR: We will attend a brief craft fair.
-Lunch. -Return to the town of Nauta and back to Iquitos.
