We begin our tour in San Lázaro, the oldest neighborhood in the city, characterized by its charming narrow streets and majestic mansions built with ashlar.
An outstanding example of the typical architecture of Arequipa, which dazzles with its ornamentation.
We continue our walk in the Plaza de Armas, where you will receive a detailed explanation about the history of the Cathedral. You can admire the impressive bronze fountain and the portals that surround the square.
We will explore the dome and the interior of the temple, adorned with carved wooden altarpieces covered in gold leaf. A church that resembles an art gallery with paintings from the Cusqueña and Arequipeña school.
Later, we will visit the Cloisters of the Company of Jesus, the only structure that has remained intact since colonial times.
We will continue our tour in the Traditional Neighborhood of Solar and the Tambo El Matadero, places that were epicenters of various commercial activities, including the famous barter of products from the coast and the mountains.
We will end our visit at the Monastery of Santa Catalina, an authentic jewel of colonial architecture dating back to the 16th century. This monastery housed hundreds of nuns and is distinguished by its narrow alleys and cloisters adorned with colorful flowers, as well as walls decorated with frescoes. The narrow corridors will take you to different parts of the convent, offering you a journey in time through picturesque corners.
