    Sinaia is a town and a mountain resort in Prahova County, Romania. It is situated in the historical region of Muntenia. The town was named after the Sinaia Monastery of 1695, around which it was built. The monastery in turn is named after the Biblical Mount Sinai. King Carol the first of Romania built his summer home, Peleș Castle, near the town in the late nineteenth century.

    Manastirea Sinaia

    The Sinaia Monastery, located in Sinaia, in Prahova County, Romania, was founded by Prince Mihail Cantacuzino in 1695 and named after the great Saint Catherine's Monastery on Mount Sinai in Egypt. Situated in the Prahova Valley, the monastery gave its name to the nearby town of Sinaia. The monastery consists of two courtyards surrounded by low buildings. In the center of each courtyard, there is a small church built in the Byzantine style.

    Predeal, is a mountain resort town, and the highest town in Romania. It is located in the Prahova Valley at an elevation of over 1,000 m (3,281 ft). The town is mountainous, with the Piatra Mare mountains to the north, the Bucegi mountains to the southwest, and the Postăvarul Massif to the northwest. Predeal has five major ski runs, each with a difficulty grade. Most of them have snowmaking guns, and some are fitted ski lifts.

    Black Church (Biserica Neagra)

    The Black Church is a church in Brasov. It was built by the German community of the city and stands as the main Gothic-style monument in the country, as well as being the largest and one of the most important Lutheran (Evangelical Church of Augustan Confession in Romania) places of worship in the region. The originally Roman Catholic structure was known as the Church of Saint Mary and the name of the Black Church is caused by the 1689 Brașov fire.
