What to expect
During the Luminous Lagoon activity, travelers will have the incredible opportunity to witness a natural phenomenon that will leave them in awe. Situated on the shores of Falmouth, Jamaica, this lagoon is known for its mesmerizing bioluminescent waters that glow in the dark.
Travelers will embark on a guided boat ride that takes them out onto the lagoon. As the boat ventures deeper into the water, they will start to notice the magical glow emanating from below. This glow is caused by microscopic organisms known as dinoflagellates that live in the lagoon.
When agitated, these organisms emit a bright blue light, transforming the water into a glowing spectacle.
As the boat moves, travelers will witness the motion of their hands and the boat's movement shimmering and leaving trails of light in the dark waters. The more they interact with the water, the brighter the glow becomes, creating an enchanting experience that is truly unforgettable.
