You will take the shuttle bus leading you into the site of Solheimasandur Plane Wreck site. The bus slowly crosses the endless black sand, leaving only the sound of the wind and the echo of footsteps between earth and sky. The silver fuselage lies quietly on the ground, like a forgotten story, or time frozen in this moment. You can walk up to it, touch it, and in this minimalist landscape, experience a beauty that is both lonely and vast.
Arriving at the wind-swept Dyrhólaey headland. This is a paradise for seabirds, where you may see puffins darting and flying between the cliffs in summer. Beneath your feet lies the roaring Atlantic Ocean, and in the distance stands the arched sea rock formation. Waves repeatedly write and erase themselves across the black sand, like a poem that never ceases.
You will visit the famous Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. Black volcanic sand, geometrically shaped basalt columns, and sea stacks rising from the ocean in the distance—legend says they are trolls turned to stone by the sun. The waves roll in one after another with unpredictable force, carrying a raw and elemental beauty.
Sólheimajökull Glacier, where you move slowly across textures carved by ice and time, listening to the glacier’s breath beneath your feet. Equipped with crampons, you step onto ancient ice shaped by centuries of pressure and movement. Every ridge and crevasse tells a story of transformation, as the glacier shifts, melts, and reforms in an endless cycle. Glacier hiking here is both surreal and grounding—an encounter with a living landscape that is constantly changing, yet feels timeless. The safety equipement and crampons are provided. Ankle-wraping hiking shoes and outdoor cloths shall be prepared by travellers.
