Take a quick flight from Cairo to Aswan to begin your day.
You'll explore Aswan and settle into your cruise ship on the Nile. Have a great day sightseeing! First, visit the Aswan High Dam, constructed from 1960 to 1970. This dam is the largest of its kind globally and was built to manage the Nile River and prevent flooding in Egypt.
Visit the Philae Temple, built in honor of the goddess Isis. This temple is stunning and would have been lost to floods if not for the Aswan dam. Return to Aswan, get on your cruise ship, and enjoy lunch as you start your next journey.
In the late afternoon, you have the option to visit the Nubian Village, which is vibrant with colorful houses. People here have been farming along the Nile for a long time. The village has its own unique culture, and you'll see camels strolling through the streets. Spend the night in Aswan.
( Optional Tour ) You have a great chance to take an early morning tour to see the Great Temples of Abu Simbel. These amazing temples were built by Ramses II and Nefertari. They are known for their beauty and also for being moved in 1968 to avoid being underwater due to Lake Nasser.
After that, you'll sail for about 5 hours to Kom Ombo from Aswan. There, you'll visit the Kom Ombo Temple. This temple is special because it's dedicated to two gods: Haroeris (an ancient form of the falcon-headed god Horus) and the Crocodile God Sobek. The temple is on the Nile's banks, where crocodiles used to sunbathe.
On the Nile Cruise ship, you'll enjoy an Egyptian Night Party. Everyone wears a traditional Egyptian gown called a Galabeya. The party will have a mix of old 60's & 70's dance songs and Arabian music. You'll spend the night in Edfu.
During the morning, you'll visit the Temple of Edfu by the Nile. Start your day by exploring the well-preserved and huge Temple of Edfu. This temple was constructed to honor Horus, the god of the sky and the child of Osiris and Isis. It was built during the Greco-Roman era under Cleopatra VII's rule.
After the tour, you'll continue your journey by sailing on the Nile. In the afternoon, you'll reach Luxor and have the chance to explore the impressive temples of Luxor and Karnak. These temples, dedicated to the god Amun Ra, showcase how the pharaohs built grand structures. You'll also witness the recently opened path of sphinxes and much more. Don't miss the temple shows at night, offering excellent photo opportunities.
Step off the cruise ship and begin an early morning adventure to Luxor's West Bank. Your journey starts by crossing the Nile River. Discover the remarkable Temple of Hatshepsut, a symbol of the achievements of ancient Egypt's notable female Pharaoh. Hatshepsut, inspired by her powerful father, flourished during her reign. She undertook famous trade voyages to present-day Somalia, the land of Punt, bringing back valuable treasures.
Next, head to the Valley of the Kings, where you can enter a royal tomb and marvel at the array of 64 tombs, each with its unique size and complexity. Ranging from simple pits to elaborate chambers with over 120 royal rooms, this site also features the Colossus of Memnon and ongoing archaeological efforts.
Visit Luxor Temple, Ipet-resyt “Southern Sanctuary” to the ancient Egyptians, was so called because of its location within ancient Thebes (modern Luxor). It is located around three kilometers to the south of Karnak Temple, to which it was once linked with a processional way bordered with sphinxes. The oldest evidence for this temple dates to the Eighteenth Dynasty (c.1550–1295 BC).
