With nine series, Shetland has put Shetland on the map. Our brand new Shetland Locations Tour is a great way to see the sights you've seen on the small screen up close. Plus, you'll get to see the best of our beautiful island home along the way.
Please note the itinerary order may differ depending on your selected pick up location.
One of Shetland's most photographed buildings, the Lodberrie is the home of DI Perez, standing next to Bain's Beach where he was seen drinking whisky with Duncan and offering Cass some fatherly advice. Please note the Lodberrie is a private residence and cannot be entered. We ask that you respect the privacy of the residents.
We make a stop at the police station and county buildings, the exterior of which appeared as Lerwick Police Station in the series.
Next, we visit the Market Cross and Commercial Street, Lerwick's main shopping street, known locally as "da street". We'll also make a stop at the Bressay Ferry Terminal, which connects Mainland with the island of Bressay. Perez travelled on this ferry in series 1. During the tour, we'll pass the main Northlink Ferry Terminal.
Fladdabister was the scene of a season three murder when a body was discovered in an old lime kiln.
Quite possibly Shetland's most scenic beach, St Ninian's Isle is connected to the mainland by a white sandy tombolo. In the series, it was a popular location for parties.
We pause at Clavel, a ruined crofthouse which featured in Series 3. As we pass Rerwick Beach, keep an eye out for seals basking on the sand.
The southernmost point of the Shetland Mainland, Sumburgh Head posed as a hotel in the series. The actual Sumburgh Hotel was also used for filming, but posed as a care home. Sumburgh Head is home to one of the largest colonies of seabirds in the isles, and in summer is a regular haunt for Puffins. On a clear day, you'll be able to see as far out as Fair Isle, where Jimmy Perez was said to have hailed from. In the summer months, there is a visitor centre and small cafe (admission not included)
The historic fishing village of Scalloway once served as Shetland's capital. We make a stop here to enjoy some free time for lunch (not included) or shopping. Should you prefer not to have lunch or eat elsewhere, this stop can be skipped.
The beautiful Meal Beach on the island of Burra is accessible by boardwalk. It featured extensively in series 6 & 7. On our way to Burra, we cross the island of Trondra where the bridges connecting the island to the Mainland have been featured in several episodes. We'll pass Burland Croft, home of Evie Henderson. Please note- Meal Beach is on Burra, not Bressay
We pause for a photostop at the Halfway House, or Sandwater House to give it its proper name. In series 3, it played home to an artist with a stash of dead animals in his freezer. The Halfway House is a private residence, so entry is not permited and we ask you respect the residents' privacy when taking photos.
On Shetland's beautiful east coast, Gletness in Nesting featured in series 7 as Noss View Guest House. We'll also make a stop at Nesting Village Shop which appeared in the show.
The picturesque village of Voe has featured in several seasons of the show, we'll make a stop at the Sail Loft Bod where student archaeologist Hattie lived.
The dramatic Northmavine peninsula is the northern tip of the Shetland mainland. Famous for its rugged scenery and awe-inspiring cliffs, we make make a stop at the cliffs and the Ness of Hillswick.
We pause at Heylor beach before driving along Ronas Voe which featured extensively in series 7 & 8.
