Begin your day with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. You’ll travel by road to the Entebbe Waterfront Pier, located near the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC). The drive takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on traffic.
Arrive at the pier and check in for your boat transfer to Ngamba Island. After a short briefing and life jacket fitting, board a speedboat or traditional motorized canoe (depending on your package). The boat ride takes approximately 45 minutes, offering beautiful views of Lake Victoria, fishing boats, and small islands.
On arrival, you’ll be welcomed by the sanctuary staff. A brief orientation session introduces the history of the sanctuary, the chimpanzees’ backstories, and the sanctuary’s conservation mission.
