Inhabited since prehistoric times, it owes its current fame to Lawrence of Arabia, who spent time there during the Arab Revolt of 1916 against the Ottomans. It is Jordan's largest desert and one of the most impressive desert landscapes in the world. From the terrain, flora, and fauna, the sites, and the culture of the local Bedouins, there is much to be seen and experienced in Rum, whether it be on a jeep tour, camel trek, hiking or even on a hot-air balloon ride.
