The stunning vistas of the Indian Ocean from the summit of a small rocky cliff along a meandering coastal road are truly captivating. Capturing a solo photograph at this viewpoint can prove challenging, as it tends to attract a significant number of visitors seeking both the scenic view and the perfect shot. The term “Maconde” is believed to have its roots in the period of slavery, when fleeing slaves from the Makonde tribe in Mozambique sought sanctuary. It has been suggested that the name originates from Governor Jean Baptiste Henri Conde, who was responsible for the creation of an impressive cliff overlook.

  Grand Bassin

  The sacred lake also called Ganga Talao represents the mighty Ganges river of India. You'll find her tucked away in the mountains of the South West surrounded by colourful Hindu temples and gods. The statue is 33m (108 ft) high and is the highest known statue in Mauritius. It was completed in 2007 and the "Sthapan" (the ritual) was done during the 2008 Maha Shivratri festival.

Le Morne Brabant is not just another mountain; it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that embodies the resilience and freedom of runaway slaves in the 18th and 19th centuries. It reaches 556 metres (1,824 ft.) above sea level, and its summit spans over 12 hectares (30 acres), with numerous caves and overhangs on its steep slopes.
