In this tour you will explore the Peloponnese (South Mainland) and Mount Parnassus (Central Mainland) two area that have to offer many evidence from different time periods of the Greek History and some of the most picturesque towns. Visit 4 UNESCO sites, test the acoustics of a Greek theatre, step above the tomb of Agamemnon, run in the most important Stadium in the world, visit the towns where Greeks go to escape, feel suspended visiting Meteora monasteries and prepare your questions to the Oracle of Delphi!
Our driver will welcome you at the lobby of your hotel or at the exit of your cruise terminal holding a sign with your name.
You will be able to visit the battlefield where king Leonidas and his 300 Spartans fell heroicaly during the Persian invasion.
We will drive up to see Meteora closer enjoing some of the most breathtaking views in the country. You will also have the oportunity to visit at least two of the ”suspended” Monasteries and experience the unique atmpsphere of serenity.
We will have our traditional lunch at the town of Kalabaka and enjoy some free time to explore the area.
Next morning we will visit he most powerful Ancient Greek sanctuary of Apollo where in antiquity people would go to get answers. The sanctuary that formed history for many centuries still preserves the temple of Apollo, the Theatre, the Stadium and many evidence of the numerous offerings to the prophet god.
Before leaving the site you will also visit the Museum of Delphi famous for its Charioteer bronze statue.
We will drive to the village of Arachova, a beautifully located place on the slopes of Mount Parnassus with traditionally built houses and shops. Before you leave make sure you have tried the localy produced cheese "formaela".
On the way to our hotel in Delphi we will make a small stop at the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia where was found the famous Tholos of Delphi.
Next morning we will make our first stop in Nafpaktos. A cute little port that still preserves its Venitian fortress and is a great spot for taking pictures and have a break before getting to Olympia.
We will visit the sanctuary of Zeus in Ancient Olympia. Known as the birthplace of the Olympic Games will offer you the chance to learn about the origins of the Games and step at the Ancient Stadium where everything started.
After the site you will visit the beautiful Museum in Olympia to see closer some of the best preserved masterpeices of the Golden Age.
Next stop will be Mycenae, a unique UNESCO site known as the place that king Agamemnon lived. The site preserves the Treasury of king Atreus and of course the famous Lions Gate.
It is worth it to spend some time to visit also the small Museum that still preserves fine pieces of minor art and evidence of the famous Mycenean script "Linear B".
Our overnight will be in Nauplio, one of the most beautiful Greek cities by the sea that once was the capital of Greece. In Nauplio you will have the opportunity to walk through the narrow streets of the old city, the old port, the fortresses and enjoy a Greek lunch by the sea.
At the port of Nafplio you have the opportunity to take a small boat and reach Bourtzi, the island-fortress built in the 15th century by the Venitians.
Our first stop will be Epidaurus. This place is known for the sanctuary of Ascleipios (the god of medicine) where is still standing the best preserved ancient Greek theater. You can walk up the stairs test the impressive acoustics and enjoy the aura of the site.
Make sure you dont miss the small museum of Epidauros where among the exhibits you can find the first surgical instuments used in antiquity by the priests of Ascleipios.
Next follows the village of Ancient Corinth which is only a few minutes far. The village is developed around the Roman Forum of the old city and still preserves its authentic character. We will spent some time in the site of Corinth to see the temple of Apollo, the bema of Paul the Apostle and visit its Museum.
There we will have a small stop to see the canal closer. It is a miracle of engineering contracted in 1893 and still being used.
